The ease and portability of the Quest would introduce a much larger audience to VR. A robust NUX experience needed to both wow VR veterans and teach new users how to enjoy an immersed virtual world.
As I’d learned with Bogo, user attention in VR is a tricky thing. Pacing and cues took an incredible amount of tuning; additional instruction had to be layered into steps that proved difficult. These only appeared if people seemed to be struggling to complete a given task, so veterans weren’t bogged down by minute instructions.
After many, many rounds of UXR, the tutorial was incredibly polished: players reported a high degree of confidence navigating VR.
